Currency Icon Astral Diamonds.pngAstral Diamonds are a form of uncommon, sometimes time-gated, in-game Currency in Neverwinter. There are far fewer opportunities to acquire Astral Diamonds than Gold. Astral Diamonds cannot be directly traded between players, but it can be used as trading currency in the Auction House to buy or sell items.

Forms of Astral Diamonds[]

Astral Diamonds come in two forms.

  • Regular Astral Diamonds, which are the proper currency form and can be spent
  • Rough Astral Diamonds, which must be refined before they can be spent

There is a daily limit (100,000 per account) on how many Rough Astral Diamonds can be refined into Astral Diamonds; this is the mechanism by which the currency is time-gated.

Acquiring Rough Astral Diamonds[]

Rough Astral Diamonds can be acquired by the following means:

  • 800-13000 rough astral diamonds are rewarded from dungeon chests.
  • Rough Astral Diamonds can be obtained from random queues. This is the main and easiest way too get them
  • The first Skirmish and Dungeon completed each day on a character earn bonus Rough Astral Diamonds.
  • The wanderer's treasures insignia power gives you a chance to obtain rough astral diamonds when you kill an enemy (150 rough astral diamonds for level 70 foes)

Previous Methods[]

  • Rough Astral Diamonds were acquired through the invocation process (100-1000 rAD each time you invoke until your daily allotted invocation limit had been met).
  • Through the Leadership profession (100-4000 rough diamonds per task). AD are no longer awarded for most Leadership tasks. Unfortunately this method is no longer available regardless of what the riches Info tells you.

Acquiring Astral Diamonds[]

Already Refined Astral Diamonds can be acquired by the following means:

  • Selling items on the Auction House.
  • Selling items from the Zen Store on the Auction House.
  • Selling Zen on the Astral Diamond Exchange.
  • Idols such as the [Jeweled Idol] given to Rhix (Acquired by spending Zen to open lockboxes) - 40k or 50k each depending on which lockbox.
  • Foundry authors may receive Astral Diamonds as tips from other players. Up to 500 Astral Diamonds may be given (optionally) each time a foundry mission is completed.

Spending Astral Diamonds[]

  • Many vendors that sell items for Astral Diamonds can be found across the land such as the Wondrous Bazaar.
    • Many of the items offered are not available for gold, and the items are often higher quality.
  • Buying items on the Auction House.
  • Buying Zen on the Astral Diamond Exchange.
  • Advancing through the Campaign system.
  • Certain crafting tasks in certain professions.
  • Many many other convenience options cost AD.

History[]

  • On May 19th, 2013 a group of players found a bug in which they could endlessly duplicate Astral Diamonds using the Auction House. The Neverwinter team responded quickly by disabling both the Auction House and the Zen-to-AD exchange. Since fixing the bug, many accounts were banned and a rollback took place to attempt to correct the incident. But this rollback was during the open beta. Sadly when the game became live there was a astral diamond glitch where billions of AD was stolen. Shortly after that there a major glitch with the astral rift
  • Then there was another glitch which put the total theft of astral diamonds well into the trillions. These people the where stealing AD had many of nefarious ways to funnel the ad to different places so it could not be found. so they would get banned and just create another account and they would have access to the ad I am not going to explain some of the practices they use to hide their wealth for they can still be used to this by this time every player in the game was screaming for a rollback but they refused to roll back and tried to cover up the severity of the problem. so almost from the very beginning of the live launch the market for selling ad for Zen was maxed out at 500 ad for ones in and once they raise it to 750 it has been maxed since that day there was a time where it would only take a couple of weeks to get Zen with a d I'm currently waiting on 5, 000 Zen and I posted the offer in January and it's now May I suspect I will get my ad until June or July. the game is fantastic I played it from open beta and still play it to this day. but every way that people find a way to make a day they eventually shut it down. there was a time you could buy coalescence wards from the trade bar store and sell them online then the last place that coalescent wards were unbound was in the chest you get after 7 days well we all know what happened with that. there should have been a wipe immediately after every glitch was caught but they refused the game is great but it could be fantastic. so how did they handle this but since I've been playing since 2012 I'll tell you they would let you completely max out your character until it was a beast we used to have a gear score the first time around as a gwf I was at 28k and could face tank any boss in the game and not die it took me years to make this build. High DPS life steel. so they come along and they completely change the game take back everything change everything so you start over from scratch they didn't just Nerf life still they completely made it worthless. but the point is that every time you get your character to the point where you don't need anything more from the game and you could just enjoy it at that point when enough people got to that point they would break you apart make you nothing and start all over again so since 2012 I have seen five separate instances where we had to start all over again from scratch. they have done absolutely nothing to address the issue with astral diamonds you have over 26 million requested actual diamonds right now at 750k per never mind the people that are asking for it for cheaper. and the sad part about it is they really do not care about their most loyal players. I used to have a guild with a lot of people but they all left cuz they got sick of it so I used my guilt Bank as extra storage and it was robbed and I lost thousands of dollars worth of stuff. and you can clearly see that this person was never invited to the guild and see what he took and when he took it through the guild Bank transaction list and cryptic so kindly told me there was nothing they could do for me so just think about that when you decide to play this game if you run into a problem you're going to hear there's nothing I could do for you. old established players don't spend as much money because they have found ways to have the game serve them so they don't want them they want the newer younger naive player that will quickly go through their wallet because they think it'll make them better and it won't. in the beginning it would take an hour to do a dungeon with five people that were in a party with Mike's with excellent communication skills. then they dumbed it down so people with green and blue gear could get through the dungeons by themselves. the drop rate is non-existent I've had friends farm days not hours days and not get what they were looking for. it's a great game that is very poorly managed. I used to play on Xbox I haven't played in years but the last time I checked which was probably about 5 years ago it was only 236ad for 1 zen. they just recently had a problem on consoles and what they do immediately rolled that should tell you something right there consoles are there bread and butter because you have a lot younger people playing on consoles who will spend money endlessly not having a clue what they're doing. well I hope this has helped you learn about the truthful history of this amazing game which out of all the people I've ever known only me and one other of my friends still play it.
