A dracolich is an undead dragon created through powerful necromantic magic in a manner similar to that of a lich. As with a lich, the soul of a dracolich is stored in a phylactery and persists past the destruction of the physical body (allowing the monster to return) unless it is located and destroyed directly as well. The technique for creating such monsters was first perfected by the Cult of the Dragon. You can see a dracolich by visiting Makos, the tiefling warlock, at the beginning of the tutorial. He is trying to deprive Valindra of the powerful ally by binding the dracolich's soul there.
