Experience Points

As of Mod 21, Leveling has moved to a milestone model and Experience points are no longer awarded.

Experience points, typically abbreviated as XP, are earned by characters to gain levels. A character becomes more powerful upon gaining a level, gaining points to spend on new powers and feats, as well as having stats such as HP increased.

Experience can be gained through the following activities:

Defeating enemies
Completing quests
Completing achievements
Completing leadership tasks

Enchantments placed in utility slots can provide bonuses to experience gain.

Whenever a character is rewarded experience, the currently-summoned companion gains 75% of the value rewarded.

There are separate experience points gained from each of the professions. Once enough XP for a profession is accumulated, the character gains a level in that profession, and new tasks are unlocked.

Tracking Experience[ | ]

The thin bar that is (by default) at the bottom of the interface tracks your experience gains from one level to the next. It can be distinguished by its purple color. When your companion is summoned, the purple bar below their green health bar is their experience bar. You can see your companion's progress in more detail on the Companion tab in the interface.

Get lots of Experience Points very quickly[ | ]

The primary ways to level your character are questing and running Skirmishes and Dungeons. The amount of points you get from these methods are staggering compared to other methods. It is possible to level your character simply by killing foes in a zone, but this is tedious and time consuming. You will find that by following the game's quest chains and storyline that your character will progress in leaps and bounds.

Note: Experience points required for levels 61-62 (and likely the remainder up to 70) are outdated as of 2/27/19, and are much more in line with previous level needs. Further investigation to later levels is required.

↑ This is the reward for a standard quest. Shorter quests may reward half experience. Breadcrumb quests may reward one tenth. During the foundry event, foundry quests reward 50% more. The first invocation of the day also rewards this amount. Achievements reward one tenth.
↑ Enemy kills are penalized when the character is over-leveled. Outside assistance such as NPC guards, traps, or other players will also reduce the reward. Assistance by your companion is not penalized.
