Mortars are Forgotten Alchemy Assets that can be acquired as necessary components for completion of rare Forgotten Alchemy tasks from levels 8 to 13 and/or as optional components that will improve the chances of producing additional potions or dyes in rare Forgotten Alchemy tasks.

A [Worn Mortar] may be purchased for 50 from M'tari Prin'tal in Protector's Enclave (North corner of the Seven Suns Coster Market). Mortars of higher tiers may be acquired from [Professions Booster Pack] and asset packs purchased in the Zen store. Mortars are not bound and may be traded on the Auction House or transferred between players.

A task requiring a Mortar as an asset will take any tier of Mortar in its slot. Higher tiered Mortars serve only to improve the chances of producing more potions or dyes in rare tasks for which they are used.

At Profession Level 3, 4x [Iron Mortar] can be upgraded to produce [Steel Mortar].
At Profession Level 4, 4x [Steel Mortar] can be upgraded to produce [Mithral Mortar].
There is no task that will allow [Worn Mortar] to become [Iron Mortar].
