River District Hauntings is a quest in the Shroud of Souls storyline quest chain, part of The Cloaked Ascendancy Campaign.

• Slay Wraiths around the River District, then investigate one of the Crypt Dig Sites there.

Summary

Kavatos Stormeye

We've got wraiths all over the River District, and a massive shadowy tower hanging over us. The two are likely related, but the tower is out of phase with the Prime Material Plane and we have no means to enter it.

Let's begin with the wraith problem. Unfortunately that half-wit Lukan can't remember where he opened the chamber to release the wraiths. And so it falls to us.

The wraiths seem to be be concentrated mostly on the Riverfront area closest to the wall, lurking in secluded areas - back alleys and dead ends. What's more, workers have reported wraiths coming out of crypt dig sites around the district.

It's time for you to perform more of your heroics: slay the wraiths around the River District before they run rampant, then investigate one of the crypt dig sites to find the source of this problem.

Crypt Maps can be acquired from Quartermaster Kendricks, allowing you to open up a crypt at a dig site once you build up the nearby guard post.

Calling us... when I looked around, I saw shadowy figures everywhere. They writhed around as the dragon-woman spoke to them. Then they turned to me...

I fled! I fled through the ruins of Neverwinter, not stopping until I found refuge here in this crypt. Now I wait, wait for when I can return to my rest... I am so tired...

Restless ghosts in the tombs, eh? The 'dragon-woman' the ghost spoke of sounds like a female dragonborn to me. If the dragonborn is talking to wraiths, it is likely she's our culprit.

Great vault with symbols of skeletal hands holding up scales? Sounds like an old Kelemvorite vault. That helps narrow it down a bit.
