Revision as of 12:05, 14 September 2016

Following the release of Module 1: Fury of the Feywild on August 22, 2013 it became possible to "salvage" many epic level 60+ items that have the type "Salvageable" in their tooltip. As of Module 6: Elemental Evil some rare level 70 items also have the type "Salvageable" in their tooltip. This destroys the item and grants a quantity of Rough Astral Diamond in return.

It is important to note that the results will still need to be refined into Astral Diamonds and the 36,000 daily refining limit still applies: If you salvage a great deal of gear it could be some time before it is converted to usable currency, particularly if you are earning Rough Astral Diamond from other sources like daily questing.

Introduction

The Salvage process is introduced to the player during the quest Salvage Operation, which leads to Hieronymous Glim, the Salvage Trader. Salvage can be performed in the area directly behind him and similar locations elsewhere in the game.

Salvage Trader
To salvage an epic magic item you must be standing near a salvage area, such as the one behind me.

Open your inventory and right-click on an epic magic item - this will bring up the item options menu. If you are standing within the salvage area and an item is eligible for salvage, the "Salvage" option will be available.

Clicking on the Salvage option will bring up a window showing you the Rough Astral Diamonds you will get in exchange.

Process

Salvage Prompt

Final Salvage Prompt

  1. Locate a Salvage Trader.
  2. Right click on the salvageable item.
  3. Click on the option "Salvage" on the item menu: If it does not appear the item may not be salvageable or you may need to adjust your position relative to the trader.
  4. A prompt will appear indicating the item to be salvaged and how much Rough Astral Diamond it will provide.
  5. Press OK to perform the action.
