An old Kelemvorite crypt? Aye, some of the workers thought it was a private crypt of an old noble family at first, but then they noticed the Kelemvor symbols everywhere. It was shortly after that they were attacked by those shadowy creatures and fled.

You can find the crypt southeast of Ostram's Villa. I'll mark the location on your map.

What wrongs have I committed to deserve such a fate?

• Greetings to you, spirit. Were you also summoned from the dead?

I was torn from my eternal rest! Called back to this place which I once guarded. That foul necromancer tried to bend me to her will, but I resisted and escaped.

But I cannot return to my rest... I am bound here! A tormented spirit trapped in the mortal realm! What have I done to deserve such a fate?

Kelemvorite Ghost

This was once the resting place for a powerful artifact known as the Shroud of Souls, capable of calling the spirits of the dead. We could not destroy it, so it was kept safe in this vault, surviving even through the destruction of Neverwinter.

In time, a necromancer known as Morlanth came searching for it. But our traps and wards against such thieves were strong. She was trapped in here with it. She died... but the Shroud gave her a blasphemous unlife.

• If the crypts were trapped and warded, how did wraiths start escaping?

Some foolish wizard broke the wards on the vault! A small foppish man accompanied by a kobold of all things!

He blundered around the crypts, woke the undead, then promptly fled!

Please, adventurer. Stop this necromancer from spreading her evil in the world!

I would beg of you a favor. For a cleric of Kelemvor to exist in such a state is an affront to everything we stand for. Please, if you can, find some holy oil, then seek out my remains deeper in the crypts and burn them. I believe it will break the hold Morlanth has over me. May Kelemvor watch over you!

Kavatos Stormeye

A necromancer named Morlanth? I know that name! Back when the Arcane Brotherhood was ruled by Arklem Greeth, he had an apprentice named Morlanth. She was sent on a quest by Greeth to retrieve an artifact, but never returned. Now we know why.

If she plans to use this Shroud of Souls to raise an army of wraiths with the Neverwinter Nine leading them, we need to act quickly. The question is how to reach the Shard of Night within the Shadowfell.
