Neverwinter Wiki

Hello ... I noticed you are very active on the Wiki, and that's really good! You correcting lots of little inconsistencies and that's also very nice! However, I noticed that just now you have started converting items from the regular Tooltip-item to the old, deprecated, [[Template:ItemTransformer]][1]. Please note the remark in the documentation of that template: "WARNING: ItemTransformer and its dependent templates are unmaintained. Use of standard tooltips (Help:Tooltips) is preferred. See discussion at Neverwinter Wiki talk:Community_portal."

Please do not convert all items that are currently using Template:TooltipItem to [[Template:ItemTransformer]][1]. Read the discussion on the Community Portal. Using ItemTranformer has all sorts of side-effects, so I understand, some of it in performance.

You are welcome to let the few items you just converted the way they are. - IshtarNW (talk) 09:40, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

  1. 1.0 1.1 Template:ItemTransformer was deleted on 2017-12/13

I noticed you are an active editor on the wiki. The Gateway has been officially shutdown, I was curious, if you want to help make changes? I am not wanting to remove information but I guess just place notes and information where needed that the Gateway is no longer in service. Wendy Black 20:38, 16 September 2016 (UTC)

Admin Priveleges[]

Hey Hawchang, seeing as you're still active (I thought that maybe you'd given up since you haven't really made edits in the past month), I'd like to talk to oOeyes about making you an admin, and possibly even making you the wikiguardian instead of me if you're interested - you've put far more work into this than me, and I'm sure admin privileges could make your job easier. -katamaster818 (talk)

Hi, katamaster818. Recently my real-work was very busy and it seems to continue for a while. I only gathered information of in-game :-<. I intrested to admin or wikiguardian. But I do not have enough time to do that. And, I am not native English speaker. So, I can not reply as soon as possible. This message is also translated by Google translate. If I can, I would like to get legitimate rights to delete article and files. -Hawchang (talk)
I've contacted oOeyes about getting you some more rights! He's pretty quick about responding, so it shouldn't take long to hear back from him. -katamaster818 (talk) 17:30, 26 February 2017 (EST)
Thanks to the your recommendation. -Hawchang (talk) 11:08, 27 February 2017 (UTC)

I know I'm a new user, but at least give people a chance to finish posting the content before you go changing things on em.
Also, instead of changing the pages I just started, why not go and change the page that I got the format from.

I am going to present a better sample.
I am trying to create pages that everyone can easily browse and edit.
When creating a link for an item, please check whether it is the same item or another item with the same name.

For example, Is Revered Partisan's Mace a different item with Oathbound Paladin and Guardian Fighter?

If both are the same items, identification string is not required.
For example, If Revered Partisan's Mace can equip Paladin and Fighter, Item name is Revered Partisan's Mace. It is not "Revered Partisan's Mace (OP)" and "Revered Partisan's Mace (GF)"

If there are multiple pieces of information of the same item, the user gets confused and the editor's effort increases. -Hawchang (talk) 02:05, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

Tooltip Infobox[]

Thanks for fixing the "binding" value on the Medal of Heroism/Tooltip. I tried using "cbop" for character binding, since the previous value "abop" gave account binding, but "cbop" didn't work and I couldn't find the section of that massive, slightly confusing, infobox code where the binding values were specified. —TheDefiant604 (talk • contribs) 20:23, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

Template "cbop" does not exist. For a complete templates list, please check -Hawchang (talk) 21:46, 8 September 2017 (UTC)
Oh, it calls a template... No wonder I couldn't find the possible values when looking at the code of the TooltipItem template. I'm not familiar with advanced templates, so the part where it called the other templates was just gibberish to me. —TheDefiant604 (talk • contribs) 23:35, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

Screenshot Upload[]

Hi, I've uploaded an image of Sandy's Assault Pants for you. Consustes (talk) 09:47, 15 November 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for helping to expand wiki. I already updated [Sandy's Assault Pants] yesterday. -Hawchang (talk) 10:42, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
You're welcome. I'm glad to help. Consustes (talk) 17:52, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
Just uploaded a screenshot of [Chef Melvin's Ring of Defiance]. Consustes (talk) 10:43, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
Thanks as always :-D -Hawchang (talk) 11:06, 22 November 2017 (UTC)

Star icons[]

Hi, I uploaded new star icons. And reduced the size of the stars in TooltipItem. - Barknar (talk) 16:22, 27 June 2018 (UTC)

I must apologize for the "undo". I thought the tooltip I undid was the main template for equipment. Experienced on other wiki's but very rusty and not accustomed to using "tooltips". Jaylienne (talk) 20:43, 9 June 2018

I will explain first, because I translated using Google translate it may not be able to tell correctly. In this wiki, /Tooltip subpages are core contents. It is reused or reformatted for displayed as parts or tables in articles. For details, I think that it is quicker to check the {{TooltipItem}}'s document and the source of Collection (and its link destination). - Hawchang (talk) 13:21, 10 July 2018 (UTC)

Question on Lore page[]

Disregard this, sorry.

UCX implementation[]

Hi! I’m Héctor, one of the Fandom Community Managers. I’m here to talk with you about the upcoming changes we will experiment on the wikis when the new UCX will be released. As a result, we’ll have to adapt the current content - mainly the design and implemented code - to ensure they’re compatible and operational.

Specifically talking, the UCX will mainly affect the Frontpage, the design (logo, background, favicon, themes), the CSS/JS used and some templates that should adapt their look to it. While the wiki will still be migrated some weeks later, I’m here to work alongside you to anticipate all the work regarding review, improvements and adaptation to the new skin.

If you agree, I’ll start soon, reviewing the mentioned elements and describing to you what work should be done. For the case of the design, I can work with the future version, that will be working once the wiki will be migrated. Regarding the frontpage, templates and the code, I can work and implement the changes now, to have them properly working both in the present and the future, but having all the changes done in advance.

Let me know if you have any comments about it and we can explore together the upcoming changes. Thanks! --CuBaN VeRcEttI (Contact) 16:46, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi! Any comment about this? Thanks! --CuBaN VeRcEttI (Contact) 17:24, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
I don't use English as my main language, so I use Google Translate. I'm very interested in what you're saying, but I want to know what's affected and how I need to change it. --Hawchang (talk) 22:03, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
There's no problem. As you can read in the blog post, the UCX basically means a new desktop skin for all the wikis, and we obviously have to do some adaptation work. In your case, apart from creating 2 new themes (light and dark) for the wiki (you can create the dark one based in the current theme) and re-uploading the assets, you also have to move some code from Hydradark.css (disabled in the new skin) to Common.css or the new page for the new skin, to make this code working again. In your case, you basically have to move the code for the frontpage and some templates like infoboxes and navboxes. If you want, I can make some adjustments before you could see the test version of the wiki. CuBaN VeRcEttI (Contact) 08:35, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
By the way, the opt-in exploration is now live! You can take a look to the skin and start the work to adapt the wiki to it. --CuBaN VeRcEttI (Contact) 12:35, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
I mainly managed the contents and only fine-tuned the site design. I'm going to validate the new skin (.css) with my custom CSS. Should I simply create MediaWiki:newskin.css to create a new skin, or should I just edit common.css? Also, when it comes to editing, is the HTML document structure the same as it is now? For example, the tag itself, tag nesting, ID, and so on. -Hawchang (talk) 02:31, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
All the code inside Common.css affects all the skins, including the current one (Hydradark) and the new one (Fandomdesktop). I recommend you to put/keep in Common what you think is good for all the skins. On the contrary, for "old" stuff that you don't think necessary for the new skin, or simply it's not compatible, it's better to keep it in Hydradark.css, and additionally all the new tweaks you need for the new skin should be only in Fandomdesktop.css and neither Common.css (because would also affects Hydradark) nor Hydradark (because it's useless for FD).
You also have to keep into account that Fandomdesktop uses 2 themes available for all the people, so all the code affecting colors and readability (text color, link color, background color, border color) should be compatible with both at the same time. It implies moving the current color style for the frontpage, infoboxes, navboxes and tables to Hydradark.css, and duplicate it and adapt it in FD.css for both themes (you can use either 2 different classes for each theme or CSS variables, and I can explain you how).
Regarding HTML, I don't know exactly all the details about it, but theoretically most of the features are still working (but other ones don't because we're now using a new MediaWiki version). --CuBaN VeRcEttI (Contact) 08:58, 2 June 2021 (UTC)

UCX migration[]

Hello again! As we announced in our last blog post, we started the migration of the first batch of wikis to the UCX some days ago. Your wiki wasn’t migrated yet because you weren’t marked it as ready in the Admin Dashboard, but we expect to migrate a second batch of wikis in the next few days, including yours. Do you have any concrete blocker for this? I already worked on the adaptation of the wiki, so theoretically it shouldn’t have any critical  blocker to stop the migration. Thanks! --CuBaN VeRcEttI (Contact) 10:22, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

Help with icon extraction[]

Hey there! I wanted to ask you if you perchance knew how to extract icon files (item icons, status effect icons etc...) from the .hogg files. Rather, WHICH .hogg file contains the icons and in which path. I've looked around for a bit and couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance!
